Adobe Premiere Coming to iPhone: Revolutionary Video Editing App with AI Features, 4K HDR Support, and More

Adobe is set to debut its Premiere video editing software on the iPhone, with a anticipated launch date of September 30. The application, now listed on the App Store with a pre-order link, will allow users to edit videos without watermarks and export them directly from their device.

The mobile version of Premiere boasts several features similar to its desktop counterpart, including frame trimming, layering, and fine-tuning capabilities. It also offers automatic captions with customizable subtitles, support for 4K HDR, and layers for video, audio, and text. Additionally, Adobe is integrating AI technology from its Firefly models to enable users to generate images, audio, or videos using text prompts.

The app will grant access to Adobe’s extensive stock library of music, sound effects, photos, graphics, and videos, as well as fonts and presets from Lightroom, its photo editing application. An innovative “Enhance Speech” feature will suppress background noise when recording in loud environments.

While the app will be free to use, users will need to pay for AI credits and cloud storage. Adobe is also developing an Android version, though a release date has yet to be announced.

The decision to bring Premiere to iPhones comes amidst growing competition among platforms seeking to attract creators producing content for TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube Shorts. In response, Meta recently launched the video editing app Edits, while Captions, backed by a16z, switched to a freemium model to expand its user base.

Adobe’s commitment to mobile platforms is evident through its previous launches, such as Photoshop for iOS in February and the beta release of the Android version in June. The company also unveiled a separate Firefly app for both iOS and Android in June.
