EU Transitioning to Circular Economy Model Amidst Excessive Waste Generation
The European Union produces approximately 2.1 billion tonnes of waste annually, a figure that underscores the need for change in waste management strategies. To address this issue, the EU is revising its legislation to foster a circular economy, a model aimed at moving beyond the conventional take-make-consume-dispose approach.
This shift from the current linear economy will see the European Union adopting a more sustainable and efficient approach to waste management. The circular economy aims to keep resources in use for as long as possible, extracting the maximum value from them while minimizing waste and pollution.
