Xero Partners with OpenAI to Transform Chatbot into Agentic AI for Streamlined Small Business Accounting

New Zealand’s cloud accounting software giant, Xero, is set to revolutionize its AI-powered assistant through a strategic partnership with OpenAI. This collaboration aims to elevate Just Ask Xero (JAX) from a basic chatbot to an autonomous AI platform.

An agentic AI platform is designed to act independently rather than just responding to queries, offering capabilities beyond simple information exchange. It can execute tasks such as processing payroll or reconciling bank statements with minimal human intervention.

Traditionally, AI tools in the finance sector have been primarily focused on answering questions and providing insights. However, agentic systems take this a step further by performing tasks autonomously, freeing up more time for humans to focus on strategic decision-making.
