KPMG’s First Global AI Leader David Rowlands Retires, Leaving Behind Ethical AI Framework

KPMG’s pioneering Global Head of Artificial Intelligence (AI), David Rowlands, has announced his retirement following a successful tenure that saw him establish the organization’s comprehensive global AI strategy and ethical guidelines.

This departure signifies a shift in the firm’s technological leadership as Steve Chase assumes the expanded role, taking over from Rowlands.

Appointed in December 2023 as KPMG International’s inaugural AI leader, Rowlands was instrumental in integrating AI across various service lines and embedding ethical principles throughout the 270,000-strong workforce.

Under his leadership, KPMG developed its Trusted AI Framework, which centers on fairness, human-centricity, and sustainability, setting the standards for responsible AI implementation across its global network. This framework ensures ethical practices in AI application within the organization.
