Exclusive Leak Reveals Chinese Firm Selling Digital Censorship Tools Globally, Promoting Digital Authoritarianism as a Service
Leaked internal documents reveal the global marketing and exportation of digital censorship tools by an unidentified Chinese firm. Dubbed as a commercialized version of China’s “Great Firewall,” Geedge Networks reportedly sells these tools to at least four countries – Kazakhstan, Pakistan, Ethiopia, and Myanmar.
The documents offer a detailed insight into the company’s capacity to monitor, intercept, and potentially hack internet traffic. Experts who have examined the files characterize Geedge Networks as offering “digital authoritarianism as a service.”
