Worker Sustains Injury During Construction of Elon Musk’s Boring Company Tunnel to Las Vegas Airport; OSHA Investigation Underway
The Boring Company, Elon Musk’s tunnel construction venture, has allegedly halted work on a tunnel project leading to the Las Vegas airport following a worker’s severe injury. According to reports by Fortune, the Nevada Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is currently conducting an investigation.
On Wednesday night, at approximately 10:12 p.m., local emergency services received a call regarding the incident at the job site. An 18-person rescue team was dispatched, and the injured worker was extracted using an on-site crane by the Clark County Fire Department. According to Fortune’s sources, the worker is currently in stable condition.
Since its inception, The Boring Company has been actively involved in digging tunnels linking the Las Vegas Convention Center with nearby hotel casinos. These underground transportation systems have facilitated over 3 million rides across the 3.5 miles of operational tunnels. The company’s long-term vision involves connecting virtually all of Las Vegas, including the airport, through an extensive network of underground tunnels.
However, numerous worker injuries have been reported during the construction of these tunnels. Even the former safety manager for the Las Vegas project has publicly expressed concerns about the safety conditions at these sites.
