Google Launches Experimental App for Faster Searches on Windows, Offering AI Mode, Google Lens, and More
Google unveiled a novel experimental application designed for Windows on Tuesday, aimed at expediting user’s search process. This application will permit users to execute a swift search for information within their computer files, installed apps, Google Drive documents, and the web, by utilizing the shortcut Alt + Space.
The functionalities of this search bar echo those of Mac’s Spotlight search, allowing users to quickly locate any item on their device or online.
The new application can be accessed through Search Labs, an experimental platform initiated by Google, offering users the opportunity to test emerging features and offer feedback prior to their widespread launch.
Google highlights that this application integrates Google Lens, enabling users to select and search any element displayed on their screen for tasks like instant translation of images or text, assistance with math problems, and much more. Furthermore, users can leverage Google’s AI Mode, a search feature that allows complex, multi-part questions to be posed via an AI interface, yielding in-depth responses.
Users have the liberty to switch between various result options such as all results, AI mode, images, shopping, videos, and more. The application also offers a dark mode setting.
As of now, the new application is accessible only in English for users residing in the U.S. A PC running Windows 10 or later versions is required to use this application.
