OpenAI Expands Budget-Friendly ChatGPT Go Plan Globally, Taking on Google’s AI Plus Subscription in Indonesia

OpenAI Expands Budget-Friendly ChatGPT Go Plan Globally, Taking on Google’s AI Plus Subscription in Indonesia

OpenAI’s ChatGPT subscription plan, priced affordably under $5 in India last month, is now being extended to Indonesia. For a monthly fee of Rp75,000 ($4.50), users can access this mid-tier subscription option, known as ChatGPT Go.

Situated between OpenAI’s free version and the premium $20-per-month ChatGPT Plus plan, ChatGPT Go offers users ten times higher usage limits for posing questions or prompts, creating images, and uploading files. Additionally, it allows ChatGPT to recall previous conversations more effectively, thus facilitating more tailored responses over time, as confirmed by Nick Turley, Head of ChatGPT.

Since the introduction of ChatGPT Go in India, paid subscribers have reportedly surpassed initial numbers by more than double.

This strategic expansion places OpenAI squarely against Google, which unveiled a comparable AI Plus subscription plan in Indonesia earlier this month. Google’s AI Plus plan offers users access to the Gemini 2.5 Pro chatbot, in addition to creative tools for image and video generation like Flow, Whisk, and Veo 3 Fast. The plan also provides enhanced features for Google’s AI research assistant NotebookLM and integrates AI capabilities into Gmail, Docs, and Sheets, along with 200GB of cloud storage.
