74% of Executives Trust AI More Than Friends for Strategic Decisions: SAP Survey

In a significant shift from AI’s initial role as a back-office tool, a recent survey conducted by SAP reveals that 74% of executives now prefer AI-generated insights over advice from their personal networks when formulating strategic decisions. The survey further underscores an intriguing trend; 44% of respondents are open to AI systems overriding previously planned decisions.

This shift signals a marked departure from traditional executive decision-making processes, which have historically relied heavily on human intuition and expert advisors, alongside data analysis. As Jared Coyle, Chief AI Officer for SAP Americas, notes in TechRadar, AI is increasingly assuming the role of a strategic partner to executives.

According to the survey findings, AI technology now handles data analysis and recommendation generation for 52% of respondents, reveals hidden risks for 48%, and proposes alternative strategic paths for 47%. Jared Coyle elucidates that this evolution allows leaders to delve deeper, question assumptions, explore new scenarios, and make more informed decisions regarding their business operations.

The extent of AI’s integration into decision-making processes is further highlighted by practical applications.
