Microsoft Warns of Increased Azure Cloud Latency After Red Sea Undersea Cable Outages

Microsoft announced on Saturday that users of its Azure cloud platform may encounter increased latency following multiple undersea cable disruptions in the Red Sea. According to Bloomberg’s report, this incident has impacted traffic traveling through the Middle East and reaching destinations in Asia or Europe.

In a recent update, Microsoft did not disclose who was responsible for cutting the cables or the reason behind it. The company stated that undersea fiber cuts can take time to repair, but they are actively monitoring, rebalancing, and optimizing routing to minimize customer impact during this period.

By Saturday evening, Microsoft reported no longer detecting any Azure-related issues.
