Reddit Unveils New Tools for Publishers to Boost Article Performance and Expand Reach

Reddit unveiled a collection of complimentary tools designed for publishers to monitor their article performance and receive recommendations on suitable communities for story dissemination within Reddit’s network. These new resources are being integrated as part of Reddit Pro, a business toolkit introduced last year aimed at assisting organizations in expanding their presence on the platform.

Three essential tools will be accessible under the Links section of Reddit Pro. They include article insights, which provide data on where stories have been published and related statistics such as views, upvotes, and clicks. Publishers can also synchronize their RSS feeds with Reddit Pro, enabling them to utilize dashboards for sharing articles. To facilitate distribution, Reddit will leverage AI to suggest optimal communities for content sharing.

Reddit has been collaborating with various publications like The Atlantic, The Hill, NBC News, and The Associated Press in an alpha testing phase for the publisher product. As it moves into beta testing, the social platform is extending invitations to other platforms to participate.

In addition, Reddit aims to enhance the user experience for news consumption. Previously, when clicking on a link, the platform opened it through an internal browser. Users were required to close the story before posting comments in the original thread. To streamline this process, the company is simplifying the method of opening links so that swiping up suffices for reading or commenting.

News, articles, and blogs constitute a significant aspect of Reddit users’ search experience. In an effort to cater to publishers seeking to distribute their stories more effectively, Reddit intends to optimize the platform accordingly, ensuring they are discoverable during searches. This strategy aligns with Reddit’s recently declared aspiration to evolve into a search engine.

While offering more data to businesses, Reddit is concurrently modifying some consumer-focused metrics. The company announced on Tuesday that it will cease displaying member counts on subreddits, replacing them with a seven-day visitor figure, accompanied by the number of contributions made during that timeframe.
