Cutting Water and Energy Waste: A Look at Tech-Driven Sustainability Strategies for Global Efficiency

Cutting Water and Energy Waste: A Look at Tech-Driven Sustainability Strategies for Global Efficiency

In the modern landscape, data-driven efficiency is proving to be a potent tool for simultaneously cutting costs and carbon emissions.

According to the International Energy Agency (IEA), electric motor systems – which power pumps, fans, and compressors worldwide – account for over 40% of global electricity consumption. The IEA emphasizes that there is a significant opportunity to decrease demand by 20-30% through high-efficiency equipment and intelligent controls.

The global water crisis is escalating, with only one-third of river basins experiencing normal conditions predicted for the year 2024. The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) warns that global demand will exceed freshwater supply by 40% by 2030.

In response to this looming crisis, technology-driven sustainability strategies have become indispensable. At Sustainability LIVE: Climate Week NYC 2025, Louise Koch, Senior Director and Group Head of Sustainability at Grundfos, will present a keynote address titled “Technology-Driven Sustainability: Minimizing Water and Energy Waste.”
